SavingTeens: "Racing isn't the only place to find a challenge...."

When a child or teenager is struggling with substance abuse and other emotional issues everyone in the family is affected.  "Racing isn't the only place to find a challenge," says Saving Teens Founder John Reuben, "Everyday life is filled with them too, particularly for teenagers in crisis and their families. It is incredibly gratifying to see Guardian Angel Motorsports step forward to help us meet the challenge we face in fulfilling our mission of saving young lives."

The emotional difficulties that adolescents face in today’s society are often more than they can bear. These challenges can be preceded by or become the cause of severe substance abuse problems. Whether or not substance abuse is a factor emotional problems can lead to a multitude of misfortunes for both the children and their families.

These families need a strategy, a long-term plan for recovery that includes:

  • Extensive evaluation followed by intervention in the form of a drug rehabilitation or wilderness program, and education at a therapeutic boarding school
  • Financial assistance with programs that typically cost as much as $150,000 per child
  • Emotional support to be able to effectively participate in such a long course of treatment

While there are a significant number of dedicated professionals and effective programs aimed at assisting teenagers with emotional and behavioral difficulties, there is no system or framework on which financially challenged parents can depend to guide them to the appropriate providers, and see them through a long-term process from start to finish.

In the Rolex 24, Eric Curran, of Deerfield, Mass., will race the #75 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro GT.R in the GT class with teammates Matt Bell, Al Carter and Hugh Plumb.   He will be flying the Guardian Angel Motorspors colors as the #75 car laps the track to benefit SavingTeens.org.

GAM will combine pledge per laps donations from this race with proceeds from their RacetoSpaceRaffle.com for the benefit of SavingTeens.org.
